Mariam Oladepo-Ajagbe
My deep curiosity for textiles has shaped my academic and creative journey from earning a Bachelor of Science in Clothing and Textile Science to pursuing an MFA in Textile Art and Design. Along the way, I’ve combined academic research with hands-on experience in the fashion industry, which sharpened my eye for design and cultural storytelling.
Today, I explore surface pattern design as both a medium of healing and a tool of expression. Through fabrics and other surfaces, I create work that evokes emotion, celebrates African heritage, and bridges traditional motifs with contemporary aesthetics. My practice is grounded in the belief that textiles are more than materials; they are vessels of memory, connection, and identity.
